How does the blog "Search" feature work? Top

The blog search option is currently located on the front of the Blogstream site (http://www.blogstream.com). Just type a search phrase into the box to perform a search.

Blogs are currently indexed into search every 3 hours, so recent posts may not appear immediately.

Search examples:

game monopoly - Posts that have either the word game OR monopoly. Posts that have both will be ranked higher.

"game monopoly" - Posts that have both the exact phrase "game monopoly".

+game monopoly - Posts that definitely have the word game and MAY have the word monopoly in them.

+game -monopoly - Posts that have the word game but not the word monopoly in them.

Currently singular and plural words are different, so searching for gift or gifts will return different results.

Why doesn't my blog post appear in the search? Top

There are a number of reasons why it may not appear...

  • Blog indexes are updated every 3 hours. If you posted a message recently you may not be able to see it until the next indexing.
  • Make sure you are entering the correct terms in your search. Currently each post includes the blog Title and Nickname of the author, so you should be able to search on a blog author name or the title of the blog to locate it (although this is not guaranteed). Remember that singular and plural terms are different, so make sure you chose the appropriate version when searching.
